Phayao where has the big lake that we can spread out of water very lively during the festival!
Let’s join us! A lively famous water spreading festival in northern Thailand named Phayao. It held on 13-15 April every year.
I spent time with my family as I usually do every year. The local traditional that we did every year since our ancestors by following details.
On 13th April; we cleaned the house and do house works. But I did house works every day since I have been home!
On 14th April: we made Thai dessert -using banana leaves to cover the dessert or “Kanom-Tien” in Thai language- for an offering on 15th.
On 15th April: today is a family day. We are normally go to the temple which is near my house. This year we didn’t make any because we was so tired from work at home everyday. My parents went to a temple to do the offering which is included food that we cooked, fruits, water, flowers, etc. After we finish an offering at the temple then we are going to do a respecting to old person ceremony which can be person who is oldest in your family first then other houses who are your cousin or relative.
We will prepare a bowl of good smell water with flowers, candles and some envelope with money inside for giving to grandparents or older persons as a gift. And at their houses will provide many kinds of food and drink as a welcoming. Some village has a stage for mini concert during the festival and arranged some activities such a beauty contest-this is the main program of this festival, and singing contest.
People will have their own beauty lady and truck for competition at the stage. They will dance along a road to the stage in another village which held by the municipal staffs for cerebrating the festival together every year.
At night, they will spend time with their families because some member work in another area like Bangkok that they not visit families very often, might be once or twice a year.
When the festival finished, they will get back to work as normally they do in another area. So a community is become peaceful, again.
Enjoy the festival!
